New England Cemetery, Washington County, Nebraska


Also known as Fletcher or Baptist Cemetery. Across the road from the New England Baptist Church, a cemetery was formed early. A cemetery association had been formed and families could buy lots for $10 each. It is still neatly kept by the side of the New England road, six miles west of Herman, with its prominent pioneer names: Fletcher, Coupal, Van Valin, Cameron, Gossard and others.

  • From the Highway 75 and CR-4 intersection in Herman, take CR-4 approxiamtely 6.5 miles west. New England Cemetery will be on the north side of the road, approximately 0.2 miles west of the intersection of CR-4 and CR-13.
