Neil McMillan, 88

Services were Thursday, October 20 at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun for Neil Vaughan McMillan who died October 17 in Blair with Rev. Gale Prentice officiating. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery with Masonic Services by Solomon Lodge No. 10.

Neil Vaughan McMillan was born June 19, 1906 in Blair to Wallie and Grace Vaughan McMillan. The family lived in Blair until 1908 when they moved to Fort Calhoun. He attended the Fort Calhoun Schools from 1912 until his graduation in 1924.

He married Gladys A. Karn June 18, 1935 in Calhoun.

He was employed at the B.S.T. Garage in Fort Calhoun from 1925-1941. In May, 1941, he entered the service of the United States government as a flight service specialist in the Federal Aviation Agency.

After working at various stations in Iowa, Kansas and Colorado, he finally settled at Dodge City, Kansas in 1946. After 27 years in government service, he retired in 1968.

In 1969, they moved back to Nebraska. They had lived in Blair since that time.

He worked for two years as a security guard during the construction of the Omaha Public Power Plant. He was retired since then.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in both Fort Calhoun and Dodge City and a long time member of Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 10 and St. Bernard Masonic Lodge No. 222 in Dodge City, receiving his 50 year pin in 1982 in Fort Calhoun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Irene, Jessie, Dorothy and Jane.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
