Blair Man Was Traffic Victim Near Aurora, Neb.

Robert Raymond McMullen, 21-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McMullen of 2319 Washington Street, was killed instantly in a traffic accident near Aurora, Nebraska, Saturday evening. He was a student of the Northeastern Nebraska Technical College at Norfolk.

McMullen was riding in a Volkswagen with three other youths. It was believed they were returning to Norfolk after visiting friends in Grand Island. Rob was riding in the back seat when the car went out of control and overturned. Robert was reportedly thrown out of the car. He was killed instantly. His companions were injured, but not seriously and all were released from the Aurora hospital Monday.

Robert was born at Fremont, November 14, 1953, and was 21 years of age. He was not married. He was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church on May 5, 1968; he graduated from Blair High School in 1972 and would have graduated from N.N.T.C. in May.

Rob is survived by his parents, Ed and Phyllis McMullen and by a sister, Lauren and a brother Michael, both living at home. Also Grandmothers Mrs. R. A. McMullen of Buchanan, Michigan and Mrs. Robert Rasmussen of Herman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Albers conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers wee Jon McClain, Steve Hansen, Pat Edwards, Duane Gray, Bob Larsen and Ron Spiker.
