Phyllis J. McMullen, 81

Phyllis J. Mullen, 81, of Blair, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery following the funeral.

Phyllis Jean Rasmussen was born January 29, 1929. She attended elementary school in Spiker and graduated from Blair High School in 1946. She also attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church.

She married Ed McMullen on Aug. 11, 1948.

Mrs. McMullen taught school and was very active in the community.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sam McMullen of Tekamah; daughter, Lauren Backman of Blair; grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Sarah Backman of Blair; Aubrey and Brian Nielsen of Kennard; and Matt McMullen of Tekamah; great-grandchildren, Brock, Makenna and Jaydyn; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Charlotte Rasmussen of Herman; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Tom English of Montrose, Colo.; and special friend, Bob Mulcahy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McMullen was preceded in death by her husband and son Robbie McMullen.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children’s Home, First Lutheran Church of Blair or Good Shepherd.
