RAYMOND E. DITLEVSON, 83

Graveside services for Rev. Raymond E. Ditlevson, age 83 of Cherryvale, Kansas were Monday, July 31, 1989 at the Marble Valley Cemetery in Gilmore City, Iowa. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Cherryvale, Kansas with Rev. Lex Fox officiating.

Rev. Ditlevson passed away at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair on July 28, 1989 after a brief illness.

Raymond Edward Ditlevson was born on April 23, 1906 at Geneva, Minnesota to Edward and Caroline Jensen Ditlevson. He received his elementary education at Geneva, Minnesota and graduated from Ellendale, Minnesota High School.

He attended the University of Minnesota and the Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis for one year each before entering the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago, where he received his Bachelor of Theology and Divinity Degree. He later received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Rev. Ditlevson was ordained into the ministry in 1933. He served churches in Chicago, Illinois; Muncie, Indiana; Marinette, Wisconsin; Atlantic, Iowa; Blair, Tekamah, and Tecumseh, Nebraska; and Altamont, Kansas.

Rev. Ditlevson retired in 1973 to Cherryvale, Kansas, where he served as supply minister in area churches and as an active Layman. One of his greatest attributes in life was helping people of all ages grow in the Christian Faith. Young people and young adults were especially attracted to his willingness to listen and to become actively involved in their lives.

Rev. Ditlevson married Freda Christensen at Gilmore City, Iowa on September 24, 1944.

He is survived by his wife, Freda of Cherryvale, Kansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Janeille Ditlevson of Blair, Nebraska; daughter, Ruth and son-in-law, Bill Lyle of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; one brother Warren of Clarksgrove, Minnesota; two sisters, Naomi Horning, Kasson, Minnesota; and Ruby Oldert of Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Memorials may be directed to the American Bible Society.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
