FREDA B. DITLEVSON, 75

Graveside services for Freda B. Ditlevson, age 75 of Cherryvale, Kansas, who died August 2, 1992 in Gilmore City, Iowa, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Marble Valley Cemetery in Gilmore City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, at the First Baptist Church at Cherryvale, Kansas.

Freda Christensen Ditlevson was born March 22, 1917 in Gilmore City, Iowa to Nels C. and Mary Simonsen Christensen.

She attended country school in Gilmore City and graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1934. She attended the Baptist Missionary Training School in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1938.

She served for four years as Home Missionary in Pueblo, Colorado and two years in St. Paul, Minnesota.

On September 24, 1944, she married Rev. Raymond E. Ditlevson at Gilmore City, Iowa. After their marriage, they served churches in Marinette, Wisconsin until 1947; Atlantic, Iowa until 1950; Blair, Nebraska until 1953; Tekamah, Nebraska until 1961; Tecumseh, Nebraska until 1968; Altamont, Kansas until 1973; and Cherryvale, Kansas in 1973, where she resided at the time of her death.

She served as a teacher’s aid in the Cherryvale, Kansas School System from 1973 until 1985. She was very active in the Baptist Church as a missionary representative, Children’s Church Bible School, Music Club, and Good News Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Raymond in July of 1989.

She is survived by her son, Paul Ditlevson, Ashland, Ohio; daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Bill) Lyle, Charlotte, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and one brother, Everett Christensen, Missionary Acres, Missouri.

Memorials may be directed to the American Bible Society.
