James E. Kersey, 65, of Boulder Creek, Calif., formerly of Blair, died Monday, April 14, 2014, in Boulder Creek.

A Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Benson Church of Christ, 58th and Miami, in Omaha. Interment will be in California where a graveside service with military honors will take place at the same time as the Omaha service.

James E. Kersey was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Freedom, Okla., to Pastor Ralph and Jessie Kersey, and was a twin to sister Joyce E. Kersey.

The family moved to Blair where he attended kindergarten and first grade at West School while his father served as pastor at First Christian Church in Blair. The family moved to Elm Creek after living in Blair.

Mr. Kersey served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and the Marines. He served in various assignments as a medic, including service in the Vietnam War, and eventually taught classes.

He enjoyed working on old cars.

His family remembers his good sense of humor and his love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; two daughters; two granddaughters; his twin Joyce E. Kersey of San Antonio, Texas; and sister Erma I. (Ronald) Hansen of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert F. Kersey Sr.; sister Merreta Woodward; and an infant daughter.
