Herald S. Sheets, 79

Herald S. Sheets, 79, of Arlington, died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at the Arlington Community Church. The Rev. Lynn Martin will officiate. Burial will be at the Arlington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, and also one hour prior to services.

Herald S. Sheets was born on June 10, 1921, in rural Herman to Will and Mabel (Lund) Sheets. He lived in and around the Arlington area most of his life. He was a meat cutter at Hormel Foods Corp. in Fremont for 33 years, and retired on April 30, 1984.

He was a member of the Arlington Community Church, U.C.C. of Arlington, and was a member of the Arlington Multi-Purpose Center since 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Liania; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Victoria Sheets of Arlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and John Frost of Fremont; two stepdaughters, Becky and husband Jim Schmit of Kennard, and Ginny and husband Dan Bojanski of Louisville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Mildred Sheets of Fremont, Milford and Ramona Sheets of Versailles, Mo., Wilford and Darlene Sheets of Cedar Bluffs, and Leroy and Alice Sheets of Central City; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Xona Groves of Blair, Iona and Leonard Goreham, and Inez and Leo Goreham, all of Fremont, Loretta and Kenneth Kleckner of North Bend, and Dorena and Robert Dalton of West Monroe, La.; six grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gretchen; his second wife, Virginia; his parents; a brother, Will Leonard Sheets Jr.; and two sisters, Hazel Richman and Elizabeth Loges.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Senior Center or the Arlington Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
