Services Today for Lucy Sheets

Services are 10 a.m. today, Thursday, January 19, at the Herman Baptist Church for Lucy Sheets, 81, who died January 16, 1984, in Herman.

The Rev. Larry Orvis is conducting the services. Burial is in the Herman Cemetery.

Lucy Catharine Minnie Miller Sheets was born October 4, 1902, to Peter Albert and Emma Eliza Janssen Miller at Hooper, Nebraska. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

She married Edward Clayton Sheets of Herman February 1, 1922.

She was a member of the Baptist Mission Guild and was a past president of the American Legion Post 274 Auxiliary. She received the Herman Citizen of the Year award in 1977.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and one son, Kenneth.

She is survived by four sons, Ervin Sheets, Omaha, Edward Sheets, Jr., Herman, Lester (Butch) Sheets, Herman, and Dale Sheets, Omaha; and three daughters, Evelyn Staples, Herman, and Marge McKain and Violet Kruger, both of Omaha. Nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Miller, Tekamah; and four sisters, Luella Metzler and Viola West, both of Herman, Roma Gilliland, Decatur, and Maxine Nolte, Ord, Nebraska, also survive her.

Hamel-Peck Mortuary in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements for the services.
