Services for Ervin Eugene Sheets, 64, who died September 21, 1994 at the Veterans Medical Center in Omaha were Friday, September 23 at the Herman Legion Hall in Herman. Rev. Mark Richardson officiated. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery with military rights by the American Legion Jackson-Peck Post No. 274.

Ervin Eugene Sheets was born April 9, 1930 in Herman to Clayton and Lucy Miller Sheets. He attended school in Herman and graduated from Herman High School in 1948.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He received an Occupational Medal and National Defense Service medal.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for Wynne’s until an injury he received in a trucking accident forced his retirement. He then went to work part-time at Hertz Rental in Omaha.

He was a member of the American Legion Jackson-Peck Post No. 274.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Kenneth, Edward, Lester and Dale.

He is survived by his sisters, Margie (Mrs. Don) McKain of Omaha; Evelyn Staples of Herman and Violet (Mrs. Lyle) Kruger of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Joan Sheets of Fremont and several nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers were members of the Herman American Legion Jackson-Peck Post No. 274.

Gracie Husk was organist. Scott Wachter was vocalist.

Memorials may go to the donor’s choice.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
