Floyd A. Sheets, 82

Funeral services for Floyd A. Sheets, 82, who died at his residence June 19, 1991 were Saturday, June 22 at the Herman Legion Hall with Rev. Charles Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery, with the Herman American Legion Post #274 presenting military honors.

Floyd A. Sheets was born on November 4, 1908, at Herman, Nebraska, to Charles and Malinda Johnson Sheets. He was raised in the Herman area and graduated from Herman High School in 1927.

On February 21, 1928, he married Grace L. King at Wynot, Nebraska. She preceded him in death February 27, 1981.

He farmed in the Herman area until entering the Navy during World War II. Upon his return from the service, he was employed in the shipyards as a boilermaker and pipe fitter. He later was employed with the boilermakers’ union until his retirement in 1971.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and L. Dale Epperson, Blair, Nebraska; Donna and Roy Schafer, Omaha, Nebraska; Grace and Walt Mitchell, Omaha, Nebraska and Lela and Richard Thompson, Herman, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Marjorie Sheets, Tekamah, Nebraska and Floyd and Becky Sheets, Olivenhain, California; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Nellie Pearce, Omaha, Nebraska and Mildred O’Hara, North Bend, Nebraska.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
