Virginia M. (Radecke) Pieters, 82

Virginia M. (Radecke) Pieters died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born June 10, 1919, in Blair to Lillian Marie Farnberg and Ernest Paul Radecke.

She studied music at Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill. She served as director of music at Lutheran churches in Oak Park, Mich., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Taylorsville, Conover and Newton, N.C. She moved to Charlotte in 1979. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and needlework and was an avid reader.

She was a wonderful and loving mother and best friend to her daughters, who survive her, Carol Pieters of Charlotte and Vivian Rice of Green Bay, Wis. She is also survived by her sister, Ernestine Youngblood of Bullard, Texas, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Pieters, Sr., and her son, Edward J. Pieters, Jr.
