#1-13 Aug., 1903 - The Pilot - Rachel McNair The funeral of Mrs. Wm. McNair took place Tuesday. She leaves a husband and a large family of children to mourn her loss, the youngest child being a mere infant. She was a rather young woman, much loved by all her friends and neighbors. The funeral services were conducted from the house, Rev. Richards of the Baptist church officiating. #2-Blair Courier 13 Aug 1903

Mrs. Wm. McNair died at her home on the Mrs. Hooks farm, about 6 miles northwest of this city, early Sunday morning from the effects of child birth. The child, a fine boy, and eight other children besides the husband survive her. The funeral was held at the residence at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning and interment made in the Blair cemetery.

#3-Pilot 17 Aug 1903

The deplorable condition of the family of Wm. McNair, residing on the Hooks farm in Cuming City, reveals a sad chapter of sickness and destitution. Last Saturday the mother died in childbirth inside of one hour, with no one to visit her except a kind neighbor, while her helpless husband, who has an incurable disease, sat in his chair near by. There are nine children all under 16 years of age and there was scarcely a thing in the house to eat or wear – not even clothing for the motherless babe. As soon as the neighbors learned of the facts they furnished necessaries and assistance and the Republican learns that a liberal donation in cash is being provided. The funeral was from the residence last Tuesday and burial at Blair cemetery. – Republican
