Truck Crushes Ex-Blair Boy

Bob Plummer, 11, Paper Carrier, Fatally Injured In Tekamah

Robert Plummer, 11, former Blair boy, was crushed and killed instantly at Tekamah yesterday afternoon beneath the rear wheels of an oil truck.

Robert, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Plummer, was delivering newspapers and was at the Dewey Oil Station when the accident occurred. Bud Douglas, driver of the truck, told Sheriff L.G. Phipps that he was unaware there had been an accident until he saw Robert’s bicycle lying on the ground. He stopped his truck, got out to investigate, and found the boy crushed beneath the wheels, he said.

Robert’s father formerly was a butcher at Elmer Hartman’s grocery store in Blair, now Mac’s IGA Store. The family lived here two years before going to Tekamah.

Surviving the boy are his parents; a brother, James Plummer, former Blair High student and now enrolled at the University of Nebraska; and a sister, Betty.
