Jean L. Poell, 79, of Fort Calhoun died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Omaha.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Jean L. Poell was born August 22, 1929, in Omaha to Clyde and Olga Hedrick.

She married Albert (Bud) Poell on June 16, 1951. The couple lived in Omaha until moving to Fort Calhoun in 1992.

Mrs. Poell was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was active in the senior citizen program. She also participated in the church’s Bible study.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Caryn and Larry Pfeifer of Omaha, Mary and Mike Donahoe of Fort Calhoun, Theresa and Larry Swoboda of Omaha; son Larry Poell of Fort Calhoun; 10 grandchildren, Joe, Pat, Jenifer, Kristin, Erika, Jeremy, Laura, Nicholas, Matthew and Anna; and four great-grandchildren, Lance, Ely, Merritt and Presley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents; brothers Robert and Howard Hedrick; a sister, Kathryn Landmichael.

Memorials are suggested to Notre Dame Retired Sisters or the Siena-Francis House.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
