Sarah Jane Poffenbarger

Mrs. Sarah Jane Poffenbarger of Council Bluffs, aged 74 years, wife of Josiah Poffenbarger, died of cancer at 1:40 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Mercy hospital. The body was removed to Cutler’s and later will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Adda Kennedy, 2203 Avenue C. She had been a resident of this city for twelve years. She is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters. The sons are Edward of Arkansas, and Fred of this city. The daughters are Mrs. Adda Kennedy of 2203 Avenue C, and Mrs. Louis J. Waldron of 2231 Third avenue; this city. The funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Kennedy Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. Mr. Adams officiating. ---Ex.

A great many Ft. Calhoun people will remember the kindly old lady who with her husband and family lived for a number of years here on the horse farm and her son, Fred, was married here to a daughter of Grandma Brooks, two of the Poffenbarger little boys now being on a visit to Grandma Brooks. The family left here for Council Bluffs Twelve years ago. W.H. Woods.
