Archie D. Pond, 77, of Decatur and formerly of Lyons, passed away late Sunday evening, April 19, 1987, at an Omaha hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 19, 1909 at Craig to Alice (Schmerhorn) and Edward Pond.

He farmed near Lyons most of his life, until he retired and moved to Decatur in 1975.

He spent his winters in the Texas Rio Grande Valley.

His wife, Naomi Stillman Pond, passed away June 1, 1979.

Survivors include three sons Emmett Pond of Salinas, California, and Ronald and Gerald Pond, both of Lyons; four sisters; Stella Sawyer and Maybel Peterson, both of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Neta Bacon and Bessie Miner, both of Lyons; two half-brothers; Adolph Nelson of Billings, Montana, and Edgar Nelson of Ranchester, Wyoming; two half-sisters: Caroline Kapus of Torrington, Wyoming, and LouElla Ross of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his step-father, Edgar Nelson of Torrington, Wyoming; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 1987, at the Memorial United Methodist Church at Lyons with Pastor L. Robert Holbrook officiating.

Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery.

A Prayer Service was held Tuesday at the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
