SOPHIE DIERKS, 95

Sophie Dierks, age 95 of Blair and formerly of Bennington, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 23, 1989 at the Good Shepherd Home.

Sophie was born on May 19, 1894 to Gus and Augusta Junge. She married John Dierks March 26, 1913. John and Sophie settled on the Dierks home place and remained there for 56 years. John was mayor of Bennington for a period of three terms. Two daughters and two sons were born to this union.

Sophie was preceded in death by brother, John Junge; son Arnold; husband, John; and grandson, Rick Dierks.

She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Marion) Roche, Blair; Mrs. Norman (Evelyn) Petersen, Omaha; son, Marvin Dierks, Fremont, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were August 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Burial was at the German Cemetery.
