Printed in January 2, 1969 Enterprise, Blair, NE; he was interred in Forest Lawn, Omaha, NE January 3, 1969; the air accident, on Dec. 27, 1968, was the 76th worst accident at the time. 27 of the 45 people on board were killed, as well as one person on the ground. Raymond Sheldon, Jr., 22 of Lincoln, died Monday from what hospital officials said were “multiple fractures” suffered in the Friday crash of a North Central Airlines plane into a hangar at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Sheldon, a senior engineering student at the University of Nebraska who was due to graduate January 25, was returning from a job interview in Minneapolis when the crash occurred. He was the third Nebraskan to die as a result of the crash.

Sheldon was a personal friend of Ronald Hazard, of Blair, who was killed in the same plane accident. Services for Mr. Hazard were held Wednesday in Blair.

Sheldon is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter, Rene; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sheldon, Sr.; brother, John, and sister, Roxie, all of whom live at 1018 Parkway Drive, Bellevue; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider, Tekamah, Nebr.
