Mrs. Shields Rites Today

Omaha Woman, 88, Was Daughter of Late Mr./Mrs. Tom Wilkinson

A longtime Nebraskan who was a member of an early and prominent Blair family died Tuesday in Omaha.

She was Mrs. Emma L. Shields, 88, of Omaha, whose parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilkinson. She was a sister of W.W. Wilkinson of Blair.

Mrs. Shields, widow of Herman Shields, was born in Illinois in 1865 as Emma Wilkinson. She and Mr. Shields were married here in 1888 and lived here until 1909, when they moved to Omaha. Mr. Shields died in 1923.

The funeral will be held today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. at the Crosby-Kunold Mortuary in Omaha. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.

Surviving Mrs. Shields are a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Peterson of Omaha; a granddaughter, Mrs. Warren George of auburn, the former Luella Simpson; and a great-granddaughter, Shirley George. Another daughter, Lucy, died in the 1918 flu epidemic.

Also surviving Mrs. Shields are her brother, W.W. Wilkinson of Blair, and a sister, Mrs. J. Fred Smith, age 92, of Omaha
