Art McVeigh Dies In Mt. Angel, Ore.

Funeral services for Arthur J. McVeigh, father of Raymond McVeigh, of Herman, were held at Spalding, Nebraska Tuesday morning, March 24th. Mr. McVeigh had died suddenly at his home in Mt. Angel, Oregon last week.

He was born April 12 at Sharon, Penn. And he moved with his family to a farm east of Greeley, Nebraska when he was a small child. He and Miss Mary Timon were married in 1905 at O’Connor, Nebraska and to this union seven children were born. They are Kathryn Scroggin, of Longview, Washington; Raymond of Herman; Bernice Niven of Salem, Ore., and Edgar, who lost his life in an auto accident in 1940.

In 1915 the McVeigh family moved to Spalding, Nebraska where Mrs. McVeigh died. Her sister, Miss Ella Timon, helped rear the family. In 1938 they moved to Mt. Angel, Oregon. Miss Timon died there in 1962.

Attending the funeral services at Spalding from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McVeigh and sons, James and Michael. Friends and relatives from a wide area were in attendance.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Spalding.
