Pearl “Goldie” McVeigh, 80

Services for Pearl “Goldie” McVeigh, 80 who died at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair March 9, 1994, were Saturday, March 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Pearl L. McVeigh was born January 23, 1914, in Grass Lands, Montana, to George and Ethel Kearnes Sparks.

She married Raymond McVeigh July 31, 1931 at Dakota City, Nebraska. They moved to Herman in 1947 where they owned and operated the Bar 73 until 1989 at which time she sold the business.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1992.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Vogel, Herman and Janet Simmons, Scottsdale, Arizona, two sons James McVeigh and Mike McVeigh, both of Herman; five grandchildren, Craig Vogel, Tom Simmons, Samantha Voth, Michaela McVeigh and Matt McVeigh; four sisters, Cora Esch Spalding, Nebraska; Donna Sutton, Lincoln, Nebraska; Lila Jones, Oakland, Nebraska and Rose Mary McManaman, Dallas, Texas and two brothers, Rollie Sparks and Raymond Sparks, both of Denver, Colorado.

Memorials are to go to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
