Rod McVickers Dies Monday In Omaha

J. Rod McVicker, age 61, of Hastings, Nebraska, died Monday, February 11, 1980, at an Omaha hospital following an illness of several months.

He was born in Omaha, April 30, 1918, the son of Fred H. and the late Mrs. McVicker. On July 31, 1943, he married Coral Jean (Sally) Stricklett and they made their home in Albion, then Schuyler and finally Hastings where he operated Mac’s Building Supplies. He was a member of the first Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge in Hastings.

He is survived by his wife Sally and their six children, Mrs. Stan (Coral) Erikson, Ligonier, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Herb D. (Janet) Blomendahl, Hooper, Nebraska; Mrs. Tom (Marsha) Radtke, Fremont, Nebraska; Miss Joyce McVicker, Omaha, Nebraska; Bruce McVicker, Hastings, Nebraska; and Mark McVicker, Lincoln, Nebraska. Three grandchildren, Rebecca, Diane and David Erikson, also survive him.

Other survivors include his father, Fred H. McVicker, formerly of Blair, now of Long Beach, California; a sister, Mrs. Paul Hawkins, Washington, D. C., and a brother, Robert H. McVicker, Millard, Nebraska. He was the brother-in-law of Mary Stricklett, Peter Stricklett and Roger Stricklett, of Blair.

Memorial services are being held at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings at 2 p.m. today, February 14, 1980.
