IRWIN DICKMEYER, 86

Irwin Dickmeyer, 86, of Fremont, died Friday, March 8, 2002, in the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, with the Rev. Phillip Vance and Michael Meyer, vicar, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation began Monday and will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Irwin Dickmeyer was born May 1, 1915, on a farm near Arlington to Louis and Emma (Hilgenkamp) Dickmeyer. He grew up on the farm and attended St. Paul Lutheran School, north of Arlington.

On June 5, 1938, he married Ruth Franke at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They farmed until moving into Fremont in 1956. Mr. Dickmeyer worked for Gambles in the warehouse in Fremont for 22 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont, where he had served in many of the church offices, and was a member of their Lutheran Laymen’s League. He had also been active in the Pathfinder Chorus.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and LeRoy Phinney of Fremont; and Dianne and Wilbur Meyer of Omaha; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Janet Dickmeyer of West Des Moines, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Ludvigsen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
