LUCILLE DICKEY, CHAUTAUQUA STAR, DIES DECEMBER 28th

Mrs. Harley Dickey, remembered by the older citizens of Blair as Lucille Kemp, died at Yakima, Washington, Friday, December 28th.

Mrs. Dickey, a talented musician who appeared on Chautauqua Lyceum circuits for many years, was active in many social affairs in Blair when this was her home.

Mrs. Dickey was born in Blair to Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Kemp on August 9th, 1891. She graduated from Blair High School in 1908 and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. (Geraldine) Frank Stewart of Blair; and (Gladys) Mrs. Harry Wiist of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. A brother, Meredith, preceded her in death , being a casualty in World War I. A niece, Mrs. J. R. Plylar, resides at Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Mrs. Dickey was a talented musician and as a young woman in Blair she contributed to many musical events in the city. She was joined in her musical accomplishments by her sister, Mrs. (Geraldine) Frank Stewart and the pair toured the Chautauqua Lyceum circuits and the theatre for a number of years. In 1916, they toured the Panama Canal Zone as guests of the United States Government and as part of a singing ladies orchestra, entertaining the troops stationed there during the war.

Mrs. Dickey was a teacher of piano in the Denver School of Music. Leaving there, she went to Hanford, Washington, where she served as a nurses aide in the atomic plant hospital. During that time she was making her home in Yakima, Washington where she continued with her music as organist of her church and entertainments at the college in Yakima.

Following the death of her husband in 1976, she resided in a nursing home until her passing.

Burial was in a mausoleum in Yakima.
