Marvin C. Petersen, 81, of Fremont, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Prairie View Cemetery at rural Kennard. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to the service, all at the funeral home.

Marvin C. Petersen was born March 7, 1933, to Carsen and Margaret (Holstein) Petersen in Washington County. He grew up in Washington County and was a graduate of Elkhorn High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Joyce Otte on May 15, 1953, in Elkhorn.

The couple lived at Elkhorn for five years and then lived on a farm west of Bennington for 25 years. They moved to Fremont in 1983. He farmed until retiring in 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter Kathy Petersen of Fremont; sister Joanne and husband Robert Patterson of Springfield; and brother-in-law, Richard Jensen of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ilene Jensen.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 60 years; daughter, Kathy Petersen of Fremont, sister, Joanne (Robert) Patterson, Springfield, NE, and brother-in-law, Richard Jensen of Omaha. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ilene Jensen.
