Former Blair Boy Dies At Fremont Home

The sad news of the fatal illness of Charles Arthur Metzinger of Fremont, reached Blair friends a few days ago and his subsequent death on Tuesday, Feb. 26, was a distinct sorrow to all who knew the young man and his family.

Charlie, as he was known to all, became ill at Christmas time with the dread disease, the flu, and his system seemed not able to throw it off or get rid of the germs that fastened themselves so tenaciously to his life. Everything that skill could do or loving hearts suggest was done to save his life and he was finally rushed to an Omaha hospital for further attention. Upon the advice of Omaha physicians he was taken back to his Fremont home, as nothing more could be done. His death occurred as stated.

Funeral services will be held at Fremont on Friday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m. from the Bader chapel and the body will be brought to Blair where services will be held at three o’clock at the Episcopal church and burial made in the Blair cemetery.

The deceased was born in this city, December 16, twenty-six years ago and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Metzinger. His father passed away about fifteen years ago. He was married to Miss Marjorie Wilkinson, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilkinson, about six years ago and to this union two lovely children were born, Billy Dean and Gloria Mae, who with the young wife, are left to mourn his passing.

He is also survived by his mother, one brother, George of Alabama and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Reeh of Pipestone, Minn.

After his marriage, he spent a year on the farm and then was employed at the J. E. Campbell furniture store in this city.

He moved to Fremont about three years ago and had but recently gotten into the furniture business for himself and apparently had a bright future ahead of him.

He was a member of the Baptist church of this city, and a graduate of the Blair high school in the same class as his wife, that of 1921.

The Enterprise joins a host of friends who are extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
