Mrs. Claressa Porter Died November 8th

Mrs. Claressa Jane Porter, a Blair resident for 30 years, died Monday, November 8th at the home of a son at Norfolk, Nebraska.

Mrs. Porter, the widow of the late Clarence D. Porter, lived in Blair from 1936 to 1969.

She was born at Tekamah November 22, 1881 and would have been 90 years old had she lived another two weeks. Her childhood was spent on the home farm northwest of Tekamah.

On April2, 1902 she was united in marriage to Clarence D. Porter and to this union one son, Orval, was born.

The couple farmed north of Tekamah and near Lyons and for a time they lived in Omaha.

In 1936 the couple moved to Blair. Her husband died in 1949 and she continued to make her home here until 1969.

She is survived by the sons, Orval, and his wife, Flora, a brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Verdab Jenson of Tekamah and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her husband and three brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Clarence Porter Is Buried Near Tekamah

Mrs. Clarence Porter, a resident of Blair for many years, died Sunday, November 7th at a hospital in Norfolk where she had been for the past several months.

For many years she assisted her husband as custodian of the Blair City Schools. Her husband died about 25 years ago and for the past three years, Mrs. Porter lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Porter in Norfolk.

Mrs. Porter would have observed her 90th birthday on November 22nd.

On Wednesday, November 10th, she was buried near Tekamah beside her late husband. Hamel and Peck Mortuary was in charge.
