Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Herman Legion Hall for Gilbert O. Potadle, 80, of Herman, who died May 8, 1983, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

The Rev. Frank Thomas will conduct services. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Gilbert O. Potadle was born in Wahoo, Nebraska, August 7, 1902, to Michael and Anna Peterson Potadle. He married Leona McDonald in Newman Grove, Nebraska, on June 11, 1934.

He and his brother, Emfred, were in business together for many years. At one time they had grocery stores in Tekamah, Herman, Malma, Kennard and Oakland, Nebraska.

He was a member of the Herman and Tekamah Masonic Lodges and the Oakland Shrine Club. He served on the Burt-Washington County Drainage Board and was a former school board member and chairman of the Herman Village Board. He was a member of the Herman Fire Department for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Potadle, Herman; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Donelle) Ege, Rockford, Illinois; and a son, Jon Potadle, Herman. Five grandchildren also survive him.

Active pallbearers will be Scott Ege, Steven Ege, Tim Nelson, Eric Potadle, Kurt Potadle and Paul Potadle.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Cornish, Jerry David, Clyde Eckel, Richard Johnson, Gus Lowe, Vincent Nelson, Keith Potadle, Ned Tyson and Melvern West.

Grace Husk will be organist.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
