Funeral services were conducted at First Christian Church in Blair on Wednesday afternoon, March 28th, for Cora Pearl Metzler, 60, who passed away at Blair Hospital on March 26th. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was held at Blair Cemetery. Pastors Owen Wilmot and Ken Cooper officiated at the funeral, Donna Ball was organist and Dorothy Wilmot was vocalist.

Cora Pearl Metzler was born on February 27, 1924 at Blair, to Glen and Minerva Daniels Salsbury. She was married to Calvin W. Metzler in Tekamah on May 3, 1941. She assisted in managing Lacey’s Café until 1973, and also worked for Blair Florists. Cora was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and First Christian Church Women’s Circle.

In addition to her husband, Calvin, Mrs. Metzler is also survived by her father, Glen Salsbury of Blair; two sons, Calvin Wayne Metzler of Blair, and J. W. “Rick” Metzler of Niobrara, Nebraska; two daughters, Patsy Tilson and Mrs. Kirk (Veida Bull, both of Blair; ten grandchildren; a brother, Mike Salsbury of Blair; and four sisters, Rachel Craig, Minerva Craig, and Judy Wrich, all of Blair, and Geraldine Petersen of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her mother, one infant grandchild and one infant brother.

Pallbearers at the funeral services were Phillip Craig, Sidney Haswell, Darrell Metzler, Frank Metzler, Robert Metzler, and Marvin Wrich, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Bull, Keith Hindley, Les Miller, Sr., Nick Moore, John Sutherland, and Bill Trisdale.

#2 Mrs. Cal Metzler Died Monday

Funeral services have been set for Mrs. Calvin (Cora) Metzler who died on Monday, March 26.

The services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the First Christian Church in Blair.
