Evelyn M. Metzler, 91

Evelyn May Metzler, 91, of Jerseyville, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

In honor of her wishes, there will be no services, and burial of her ashes will occur at a later date in Blair.

Evelyn Metzler was born May 13, 1909 in Spiker to Jens and Mary (Nilsen) Andersen.

A native of Nebraska, she married Clifford K. Metzler on Feb. 15, 1933, and resided in the Tekamah area for many years before moving to the Englewood, Colo. Area, due to her husband’s trucking occupation.

The couple lived in Colorado for 35 years. Following her husband’s death in 1996, Mrs. Metzler moved to Jerseyville to be near her son and family.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Beverly Metzler of Jerseyville; two grandsons; a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Metzler was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Schmidt Gleason, and two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Andersen.

Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville was in charge of arrangements.
