Craig Kuhr

Craig Kuhr was born to Mrs. and Mrs. Ralph Kuhr on December 29, 1953 and would have been 14 years of age next month. He was a freshman in Blair High School, and participated in the vocal music department of the school. He served as news reporter for the Green Valley 4-H Club and would have been one of four to receive the county award in Market Beef at the Annual 4-H Honors award Program at Arlington this Friday evening.

Pallbearers for Craig were: Mark Nelson of Herman, Duane Vogt of Kennard, Robert Larsen, Marshall Nelson, Roger Thaden and Tim Gross.

The Rev. Richard Atherton officiated at the 2 o’clock service at the First Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon. The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Double Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Ralph Kuhr and Son, Craig Double funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ralph Kuhr and her son, Craig, age 14. Mrs. Kuhr lost her life Saturday at her home as she tried to save the life of her son Craig, who became overcome by gas fumes while helping unload corn in a steel corn bin.

Mrs. Kuhr, was Lois Louann Ahrens before her marriage to Ralph Kuhr. Her parents were Mrs. and Mrs. Emil Ahrens of Tekamah and she was born June 10, 1926.

She served as a Sunday School Teacher in the First Methodist Church and was active in other organizations of the church. At the time of her death she was secretary to the Blair Hospital Board, and for many years has participated in many Extension and 4-H Club projects, thereby became well known throughout the county.

Survivors besides her husband Ralph, sons Kent, Kurt and Clark and daughter, Keri, and her mother, Mrs. Louise Ahrens and two brothers, Kenneth and Elden Ahrens all of Tekamah.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Kuhr were: Elmer Dixon, Ray Hansen and Stanley Bednar of Blair, Dale Hanna of York, Dean Fleming of Atkinson and Robert Volk of Fremont.
