Herman Native Is Buried In Iowa

Funeral services were held Friday, December 19, at George L. Gay Chapel in Iowa City, Iowa, for Lloyd M. Metzler. Metzler died December 16, 1980, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Rev. Kenneth Royal officiated the rites. Burial was at Memory Gardens in Iowa City.

Lloyd Milton Metzler was born December 17, 1911, at Herman to Charles Henry and Orpha Jane Moore Metzler.

Metzler was married to Lula Doris Jackson on February 28, 1934, at Papillion. He was a member of the Methodist faith and served as a heavy equipment operator and in the Iowa City meter department.

Metzler was preceded in death by a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lula, of Iowa City; three daughters, Mrs. William (Joyce) Reddick, Sr., of Iowa City; Mrs. Joseph (Jane) Featherton of Roy, Utah, and Ms. Sharon Lucretia Metzler of Iowa City; one son David, also of Iowa City; brothers, Everett Robert and Orva, all of Omaha, Arthur of Schuyler and Roy of Blair and a sister, Mrs. Norris (Mary) Bailey, also of Blair.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
