Florence M. Meyer, 88

Services for Florence M. Meyer, 88 who died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair June 3, 1992 were Saturday, June 6 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home. Rev. Dale Sanders officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Florence Marguerite Hayes was born in Shenandoah, Iowa to Thomas I. and Elizabeth Morgan Hayes May 4, 1904. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church.

She married Arthur William Meyer November 21, 1946 and “took under her wing” his five children, Marilyn, Edwin, Pat, Bill and Lorraine.

She babysat for years and worked as a nurses aid at both Immanuel and Children’s hospitals. She was a Navy mother, a member of Rebecca Lodge for many years of which she had been a Past Noble Grand Matron and belonged to many clubs.

She moved to Fort Calhoun about six years ago and lived there until moving to Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; a sister; three brothers and a daughter, Lorraine.

She is survived by two sons Edwin of Millard and William of Fort Calhoun; two daughters, Pat Blackwell of Kissimmee, Florida and Marilyn of Valparaiso, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bill Crowl, Fred Gseller, George Meyer, Don Church, James F. Grimit and Lyle David.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
