Hans Poulsen Died Sunday At San Bernardino

Hans C. Poulsen, former Blair business man, died at San Bernardino, California last Sunday, January 21st. The Poulsens moved to California 7 years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Poulsen operated a neighborhood grocery on west South street for a number of years and later operated a tavern at the present location of the Jim Kelley tavern.

Mr. Poulsen was born at Avoca, Iowa May 26, 1892 and was 69 years of age at the time of his death. He came to the Blair area as a youth. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Poulson farmed but later moved to Blair to operate the grocery store which they ran for eight years.

While in Blair he was active in affairs of the American Legion, being a veteran of World War I. He had continued his interest in the Legion in California and was a member of the Legion post at San Bernardino.

He is survived by his wife Esther, of San Bernardino and by two daughters, Mrs. Paul R. Merritt, of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Mrs. Harold C. Crawford of Lancaster, California. A sister, Mrs. Ogie Christensen lives at West Des Moines, Iowa. There are 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Grove Colonial Mortuary chapel at San Bernardino and interment was made in Monticito Memorial Park at San Bernardino.
