Services for Junior Porter to be Tuesday

Funeral services for 57 year old Junior Allen Porter, of Blair, will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Mr. Porter died on February 18 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha from heart problems. Mr. Porter was born in May, 1926 at Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Mr. Porter has been a sexton at the Blair Cemetery for many years. He is survived by his wife Delores. They were married June 5, 1948 at Blair and resided at 1171 South 13th Street in Blair.

Also surviving are two children: Ernest Porter of Blair and Rebecca Porter of Blair. There are two grandchildren and his mother, Millie Porter, also of Blair. He was preceded in death by his father, one son Mitchell, and four brothers.

Surviving brothers and sisters are: Lloyd Porter, Artasis, California and Mrs. Harold (Joy) Long of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mr. Porter had worked for the railroad in Missouri Valley until moving to Blair in 1954. He then moved to Blair and worked for Ernie Schmidt. In 1947, he was employed at the Courthouse until becoming sexton of the Blair Cemetery in 1976.

Pallbearers will be, Joddy Dungan Jr., Jerry Foley, Bob Hardy, Ron Jenkins, Pat Long and Bob Olson. Rev. Gordon Patterson will officiate with Bette Kirk providing the music.
