RITES FOR MRS. GEO. KUHR, JR., HELD TODAY

Member Of Pioneer Family. A Native Of This County

DEATH FOLLOWS A LONG ILLNESS

After a long and painful illness, Mrs. George Kuhr, Jr. passed away last Monday at the Blair Hospital.

Deceased was born in this county on October 27, 1890, the twelfth of a family of thirteen children, and the second of the family to pass away, she being preceded in death by a brother, J. P. Jensen.

She was married to George Kuhr, Jr. in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jensen, on June 16, 1909, and the young couple immediately went to farming.

To this union three children were born, J. Merton Kuhr of north of Blair; Mrs. Lelah Larson of Long View, Washington; and Mrs. Mardelle Ryan of Omaha, all grown and have established homes of their own.

Deceased was an active member of the Congregational Church and was also active in the Rebekah lodge, the Royal Neighbors, the County Chorus and the Monday Afternoon Club. In each of these organizations she had held executive offices.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jensen, came to this county when the state was still a territory, and the family of thirteen children grew to maturity here so she comes of one of our pioneer families.

Her illness dates back to August, 1941, since which time she has been in failing health, and she gradually grew worse until death came to relieve her suffering.

Mrs. Kuhr had a large circle of friends who loved her for her straightforward manner and her whole heartedness with which she did her duties. She was a real person and lived the kind of life that brought her friends and happiness, and these friends will join with the family in their great grief in the loss of a real wife and mother.

Besides the husband, son and daughters already mentioned, she leaves five grandchildren - James Philip Ryan; Clyde, Jr., and Donna Larsen, and Patricia and John Marshall Kuhr. She also leaves five sisters, Mrs. Anna Jensen, Mrs. Peter Svendgaard, Mrs. Adolph Voss, Mrs. Edward Gilbertson, and Mrs. Henry Voss; and six brothers, James H. Jensen of Long Beach California; Andrew G. of Portland, Oregon; Albert A. of Millard, Nebraska; Nels M., Ed A. and Henry C., all of Blair.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon from the home on West Grant Street at one thirty, and from the First Lutheran Church at two o’clock with Rev. Derelle Barber of the Congregational Church officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

The pallbearers officiating are Ansel Toft, Harold Madsen, Alfred Enger, Andrew Svendgaard, Howard Jensen and Soren Jensen.
