Margaret M. Pounds, 89, Died Here Last Monday, August 3rd

Mrs. Margaret M. Pounds, a lifetime resident of Blair, died at Crowell Memorial Home Monday, August 3rd. She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Pounds was the widow of the late J.L. Pounds who operated a clothing store here for many years. He became widely known for his advertising slogan of “One-Price Clothier” which was started when price tags were uncommon and the cost of an item was often an individual matter.

Mrs. Pounds was born at Blair March 23, 1881. She was a quiet, unassuming person and she filled her role as a homemaker for many years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1951.

She is survived by a son, James W. Pounds, of Blair and a daughter, Mrs. Harold Tagg (Peggy) of Crown Point, Indiana. There are five grandchildren, ten grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In Blair, Mrs. Frank Reyzlik and James D. Pounds are grandchildren.

As a younger woman, Mrs. Pounds carried on an active interest in the Royal Neighbors, the Rebekahs and the Order of Eastern Star. She has been a resident of Crowell Home for thirteen years.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary Wednesday, August 5th. The Rev. Richard Atherton of the United Methodist Church conducted the service and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.
