Inabelle S. Powell, 78

Services for Inabelle S. Powell, 78 who died in Milford, New Hampshire July 14, 1993 were held at the Congregational Church in Blair Saturday, July 17. An Order of the Eastern Star service was held Friday. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Inabelle Stricklett Powell was born May 27, 1915 to Peter and Esther Bouvier Stricklett of Blair. She graduated from Blair High School in 1932.

She was a member of the Congregational Church and the I.O.O.F. Rebeccas.

She married Thomas E. Powell, also of Blair June 15, 1939. In 1941, they moved to Washington, D.C., where Thomas Powell had accepted a position with the Government Printing Office. During World War II, she worked in the Pentagon for the former War Department.

In 1946, they moved to Virginia where she became a Deaconess at the Rock Springs Congregational Church and also sang in the choir.

They settled in Fairfax, Virginia in 1955 where she worked as a medical secretary until retiring in 1976.

She was a member of the Jessica Callahan Chapter No. 91, O.E.S. and the Country Club Hills Garden Club.

After suffering a stroke in 1989, she and her husband moved to Milford to be near their daughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Peter Stricklett and two sisters, Mary Stricklett and Dorothy (Mrs. Francis B.) Anderson.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas E. Powell; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary V. and Frederick A. Dickson of Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Burma R. Powell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a sister, Coral Jean (Mrs. J. Roderick) McVicker; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger B. and Phyllis Stricklett of Blair; a sister-in-law, Pearl Stricklett of Blair; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews and many friends.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
