INEZ M. DEXHEIMER, 88

Blair native Inez M. Dexheimer, 88, died Aug. 30, 2009, at her home in Blue Springs, Mo., surrounded by her family.

Services were Sept. 2 at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Interment was at the Blue Springs Cemetery.

Inez Marie Mencke was born April 7, 1921, in Blair to Louie and Lillie (King) Mencke. At the age of 15, she attended school at Midland College and the University of Omaha, where she earned a teaching degree. She taught school for many years in Nebraska and Missouri, and for the Grandview School District.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, and was active in the Methodist Women’s Organization.

Mrs. Dexheimer was very active in volunteer projects and, with her husband, Harry, published a historical record of the Fort Osage Cemetery. She was active all of her adult life in Girl Scouting, winning a commendation for her organization of a joint program with the French Girl Scouts while residing in Europe.

Together, Mr. and Mrs. Dexheimer operated a real estate / home builder’s business in Blue Springs.

Mrs. Dexheimer was also active with the VFW Auxiliary, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by her husband, Harry; children and spouses, Valerie and Roger Harrison of Huntsville, Ala., and Gregory and Kathy Dexheimer of Blue Springs; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Mencke.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs.
