CLAUS DETJENS DIED MONDAY AT BLAIR HOSPITAL

Claus Detjens, a resident of Washington County since 1946, died Monday afternoon at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He had been in failing health for a number of weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Detjen farmed for a number of years west of Boys Town, near Omaha, and then moved to a farm a half mile west of Blair on Highway 91 in 1946. The deceased was born in Hollingstedt, Schleswig Holstein, Germany May 5, 1899. He was 75 years of age at his death.

He was married to Enid Petersen February 18, 1937 at Columbus, Nebraska. Mrs. Detjens survives her husband. Other survivors are a son, Russell, and two daughters, Mrs. James Garrison (Sandra) of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Robert Greene (Shirley) of Natches, Mississippi.

There are five grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers live in Germany and Denmark.

Mr. Detjen devoted his entire life to farming. He had a special interest in livestock feeding and was regarded as a successful stockman.

Funeral services are being held this morning (Thursday) at 10:30 at the Bendorf Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Nenow will conduct the service and burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery.
