DUANE L. DETHLEFS, 74

Duane L. Dethlefs, 74, of Fort Calhoun, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, in Omaha. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Duane L. Dethlefs was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Omaha. He was a 1954 graduate of Tech High.

On April 30, 1960, he married Gerrie Dollie in Omaha. He raised his family in the Minne Lusa area for 30 years. He retired in 1999 after 37 years as a distribution manager for Pendleton Woolen Mills. He moved to Fort Calhoun in 1996 to be closer to his family.

Mr. Dethlefs was a member of the Knights of Columbus; was president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society; a member of the Vikes football league; and was a frequent blood donor to the American Red Cross bloodmobile.

He is survived by his wife, Gerrie; daughter, Jean Marie Liles and friend, Greg Seery of Bellevue; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Karen Dethlefs, Roger and Jill Dethlefs, and Matt and Jennifer Dethlefs, all of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Alastair Connell of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Janice Dethlefs of Omaha and Richard and Kathy Dethlefs of Tulsa, Okla.; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassidy Marie Dethlefs; and a son-in-law, Tony Liles.

Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s Schwertley Scholarship Fund.

VISITATION Monday 4 – 8 pm, with Vigil Service at 7 pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ft. Calhoun, NE. FUNERAL MASS Tuesday, 10 am, also at St. John’s. Interment Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
