Robert Chuancey Meyer, 72, of Wisner, Neb., died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at the Wisner Manor.

Services were Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Rev. Al Baglien officiated. Burial was in the Wisner Cemetery with Military rites by the Wisner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5767.

Mr. Meyer was born March 13, 1926, at Wayne, Neb., to Harvey and Marvelyn (Norton) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne.

He graduated from Wayne High School in 1943. On Dec. 28, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged on March 14, 1947. On Dec. 30, 1979, he married Dorothy Mayberry at Elk Point, S. D. They made their home in Pender where he worked for Christiansen Const. as a mason. In 1957 they moved to Wisner. There he was a police officer for the city of Wisner for over 30 years. He was chief of police for 26 years.

He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, the Wisner V.F.W. Post No. 5767, the Wisner Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and the Northeast Nebraska Peace Officers Association.

Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Trudy Nilges ofBlair and Barry and Roxanne Meyer of Wisner; a daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Jeff Rabe of Wisner; nine grandchildren, Brenda Stewart, Jeff Nilges, Kandi Sanger, Brandi Hass, Kiley Meyer, Kasey Meyer, Tara Rabe, Tasha Rabe and Tiffany Rabe; three great-grandchildren, Tarron Stewart, Kershawn Stewart and Kyan Hass; and one brother, Harvey Meyer of Lomita, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Jan. 18, 1998; and one sister.

Pallbearers were Cecil Eschliman, Warren Carsten, Keith Rasmussen, Mike Kuzelka, Cal Dorau, Russ Kind, Roger Brand and Ross Ringer.

Honorary Pallbearers were the members of the Wisner Volunteer Fire Department.

Kuzelka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
