#1-Published in the Pilot November 19, 1913

The entire community was very much shocked last Saturday morning when the news spread over town that Pauline Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Price, who had been taken to the Lake Sanitarium in Omaha, ten days previously, was dead. She was taken down for an operation for floating kidney but typhoid fever developed, causing her death ten days later. The body was brought home Saturday afternoon and the funeral was held at the Methodist Church at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, Rev. G. B. Warren officiating. She was a member of the senior class of the high school and the entire high school was dismissed to attend the funeral. Six of her classmates acted as pallbearers. A wealth of flowers testified to the high esteem in which Pauline was held by her school friends and all who knew her. She was born in this city Aug. 30th, 1896, and was therefore just past 17 years of age. Besides the heart broken father and mother, she leaves only one sister, Ruth, and a host of friends to mourn her early death. She was just budding into womanhood and life was very sweet to her, which makes her passing doubly sad.

DEATH OF THE WEEK

Pauline Price, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Price, died suddenly Nov. 15th, at Lake Sanitarium Omaha, of typhoid fever. Her illness was of three weeks’ duration and she had been taken to the sanitarium ten days before her death in order that she might have the benefit of close medical attendance. Her funeral was held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, the High school being dismissed in order that her classmates, with whom she was very popular, might attend. The deceased was seventeen years old. Her death brings sorrow to a mother and father and one sister in her immediate family as well as many friends who have known her and loved her in her childhood and girlhood.

Floral tributes from a host of friends of Pauline attested the high regard in which she was held and perhaps never in the history of Blair were flowers so profuse as at her funeral.
