Funeral Services For August Prochnow Sat.

Funeral services were held last Saturday, in the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pona for August Prochnow, who passed away on January 24th at the age of 90 years and 4 months. Reverend Oliver Saszholz officiated. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Omaha, with Sievers Funeral Home of Fort Calhoun in charge of services.

August Prochnow, was born on September 26, 1882, to Fred and Ernestine Prochnow. In 1907 he married Minnie Kuhfahl, who preceded him in death in 1964. They had four children, all of whom survive.

Mr. Prochnow was a farmer in the Fort Calhoun vicinity for the most of his life, until they moved to Fort Calhoun where they lived for almost 25 years. He became a resident of the Florence Heights Nursing Home about three years ago.

In addition to his four children, Mr. Prochnow is survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grand-children, 1 brother and 2 sisters. His children are: Fred, William, and Henry Prochnow, all of Fort Calhoun and Mrs. John C. (Marie) Kelly of Omaha.

Albert Prochnow of Fort Calhoun is his brother, and his sisters are Mrs. Lizzie Beal, and Mrs. Anna Ohrt both of Fort Calhoun.

Pallbearers for the funeral were Ottoe Fuhrman, Bill Bratt, Albert Suverkrubbe, Harold Swanson, Chris Iverson and Joe Stratbucker.
