Mrs. Shipley Rites Held Burial Here Last Thursday for Former Nellie McDonald, Age 66

Mrs. Frank W. Shipley, 66, the former Nellie McDonald of near Fort Calhoun, died March 7 in a hospital at Valentine following a brief illness. She and Mr. Shipley had resided in Cherry county since 1931, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Belva Riley.

Bu Funeral services were held at Valentine last Tuesday, and at the Campbell mortuary in Blair at 3 p.m. last Thursday, the Rev. John P. Brooks of First Methodist Church officiating at the local rites. Interment was in Fort Calhoun cemetery.

Nellie McDonald was born near Fort Calhoun April 7, 1876, and was married there to Mr. Shipley December 22, 1897. To them were born six children, two dying in infancy. The Shipleys farmed in Washington county until 1918, when they moved to McLean, in Pierce county. In 1930 they spent a year with their son, Earl, before going to Valentine in 1931.

Surviving Mrs. Shipley are her husband, Frank; two sons, Earl of Norfolk and Lyle of Gretna; two daughters, Mrs. Ida Miller of Herman and Mrs. Belva Riley of Valentine; two brothers, George McDonald of Blair and Henry McDonald of Norfolk; and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Overman of Fort Lupton, Colorado, and Mrs. Belle McBride of Blair. There are 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services For Mrs. Frank Shipley Held Here Last Thursday

Funeral rites for Mrs. Frank W. Shipley of Valentine, Nebraska, were held at Campbell Mortuary in Blair last Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m., and interment was made in Fort Calhoun cemetery. A native of Washington County, Mrs. Shipley had passed away at Valentine General Hospital on March 7. Earlier funeral services were held on Tuesday at Valentine.

As Nellie McDonald, the deceased was born April 7, 1876 at Fort Calhoun. She was married there to Frank W. Shipley on December 22, 1897, and the couple lived on a Washington County farm until 1918. At that time they moved to McLean, Pierce County, where they lived until 1930 and since 1931 had made their home in Cherry County with their daughter, Mrs. Belva Riley.

Six children were born to the Shipleys, two dying in infancy. Survivors include the husband Frank Shipley; four children, Mrs. Ida Miller of Herman, Earl of Norfolk, Lyle of Gretna and Mrs. Belva Riley of Valentine; two brothers, George McDonald of Blair and Henry McDonald of Norfolk; two sisters, Kate Overman of Fort Lupton, Colorado and Belle McBride of Blair; also 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Shipley was ill only a short time, having been moved to the General Hospital at Valentine on February 28. The direct cause of her death was acute uremic poisoning.
