Audrey A. Shockey, 65, of Goff, Kans., died Sunday, June 6, 2010 in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 77 in Marshall County, Kan., about 1 ½ miles north of Marysville.

She was born May 30, 1945, in Fremont to Frederick and Ellen Wilcox Opfer. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School and then Arlington High School graduating in 1963.

She married William Shockey on June 14, 1963, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. She was employed at Woolworths and Western Electric before they moved to Kansas. She worked for CR Industries in Seneca, Kan., until she retired.

Audrey’s passion and love was her flea markets, when she set up her booth and would sell, trade and buy. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, reading books about animals, collecting Ruby Red dishes and spending time with her grandchildren. She relished watching her grandchildren’s ball games, attending their school functions, and just being around them at home.

She will be missed by her husband of 46 years, William Shockey of Goff; her children, Christina Shockey of Corning, Kan., Delaina Miller of Mayetta, Kan., Elly Wilber of Pittsburg, Kan., and Chuck Shockey of Topeka, Kan.; her brothers, Larry Opfer of Lincoln; Merton Opfer of Kennard, Dallas Opfer of Omaha and Marvin Opfer of Valley; her sisters, Beverly Opfer of Omaha and Janet Roman of Winston; and her eight grandchildren, Cole Shockey, Skyler Brook, Kylie Wilber, Karlie Miller, Wayle Miller, Chase Miller, Keaton Miller, and Caliber Miller.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials will be designated later.
