Funeral services for Maynard Anderson, 83, who died September 8, 1989 were Monday, September 11 at First Lutheran Church with burial in the Oakland, Nebraska Cemetery.

Maynard Forrest Anderson was born on May 30, 1906. He was raised in the Craig, Nebraska area and graduated from Craig High School.

He married Virgie Marie Engdahl on February 28, 1930. Together they raised eleven children, six girls and five boys.

He received his Bachelors Degree from Midland College in Fremont and his Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Maynard was a professional educator, was a teacher with the Blair Community School System from 1954 to 1971, where he taught Math and English.

He was a past member of the local state and national education associations; the Blair Rose Society; the Lions Club; the Masonic Lodge and a long-standing member of First Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie.

Maynard is survived by his children, Lorraine Patterson, Bloomington, Minnesota; Carolee Neuman, Arlington, Texas; Lois Harrer, Omaha, Nebraska; Deanna Freitag, Fremont, Nebraska; Mary Bargren, Cherry Valley, Illinois; Lynn Clark, Council Bluffs, Iowa; John of Bloomington, Minnesota; Edward, Oakland, Nebraska; Robert, Vicksburg, Mississippi; Bill, Hannibal, Missouri; and Joseph of Blair, Nebraska. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
