Former Blair Teacher Died in Iowa

Forty-two year old Karen M. (Borkhus) Shoening, of Route 2, Glenwood, Iowa, died on January 31, 1985. Services were on February 2nd at the St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, Iowa. Interment was in the Mineola Cemetery.

Mrs. Schoening taught school in Blair for about five years before moving to Iowa. She reportedly had been suffering with a cancer ailment for a period of time.

She is survived by her husband Gary, two daughters Allison and Gina, a son Travis, parents Lloyd and Betty Borkhus, two sisters, Melanie Knoell and Cindy Fiegelman, all of Racine, Wisconsin. Also surviving is a brother Larry Borkhus of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Memorials can be given to the St. John Lutheran Church.
