Ben Short, 41, Dies In Omaha Hospital (Obituary Dec. 10, 1942)

Ben F. Short, 41, native and former resident of Blair, and a son of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Short of Blair, died Saturday night at Douglas County hospital in Omaha, where he had been a patient two years.

Born April 4, 1901, he was employed at the Andrew Murphy & Son garage in Omaha before his illness. Mr. Short is survived by his parents; one daughter; two sisters, Mrs. John Plumb and Mrs. George Mundorf of Blair; and two brothers, Private Emory “Bus” Short of Florida and Edgar Short of near Blair.

Services were held at the Bendorf Funeral Home yesterday at 2 p.m., the Rev. D.D. Kennedy of First Baptist church in charge. Burial was in Blair cemetery.

Ben Short, Ill 3 year, Dies (Obituary Dec. 11, 1942)

Following an illness of several years’ duration, Benjamin F. Short, native Blairite, died Saturday night at the Douglas County Hospital in Omaha. Short had been a patient at the hospital for nearly three years.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon December 9, at Bendorf Funeral Home, with burial in the Blair cemetery. Rev. D.D. Kennedy pastor of the Baptist church, had charge of the services.

The deceased was born in Blair 41 years ago. Until he was taken ill, he was employed as a machinist at Murphy’s in Omaha.

Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Short of Blair, one daughter, residing in Blair with her grandparents; two brothers, Edgar of Blair and Pvt. Emory Short of Miami, Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. John Plumb and Mrs. George Mundorf, both of Blair.
